Timeshare Fans Captured on Camera Enjoying Vacations from Captiva to Oahu to Portugal

Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 02, 2011

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) today unveiled its December Timeshare Fans of the Month from Hilton Grand Vacations. In its second monthly installment, ARDA is showcasing the passion of owners through its Timeshare Fans Program, where owners explain, in their own words, why they love timeshare vacations.

This month, Hilton Grand Vacations went around the world to see and talk to their owners while they were out enjoying their vacations and captured not only beautiful locations but from-the-heart words on why vacations are important and why timeshares are a better way to vacation. The video captures owner experiences on the beaches of Hawaii, the wonder of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, and the streets of New York City to name just a few.

Bill and Phyllis Hopkins of Ohio are this months spotlight owners. They have been Hilton Grand Vacations Club Members since 2007 and they own at West 57th Street by Hilton Club in New York City as well as at Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Orlando. When asked why they love their timeshare so much, they said, Membership resolves the potential beach house dilemma of vacationing in the same place year after year. Our passion is to explore new places and discover new cultures. With timeshare they have gotten to do that, visiting Paris, Brussels and London as well as many U.S destinations.

With over 8 million owners and a satisfaction rate of 85 percent and an occupancy rate that outpaced hotel occupancy by more than 20 percent*, it is clear that this segment of the travel industry is faring well. Take the time to find out why. Visit http://www.VacationBetter.org for more information.

Next month, look for happy owners from Wyndham Vacation Resorts who are passionate about their timeshare. All timeshare fans are invited to tell their story here.

About Timeshare

Timeshare and vacation ownership are often used as interchangeable terms. Timeshare may be purchased through deeded property ownership, right-to-use or a points-based program. Owners purchase a villa, usually in one-week increments, within a fixed (same week each year) or floating system. Floating time allows the owner to schedule each years vacation for the desired week within a specified season. Vacation ownership may also be used to describe the three main options of shared use: timeshare, fractionals, and private residence clubs.

*State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry Study 2011, conducted by Ernst & Young LLP.

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) is the Washington D.C.-based professional association representing the vacation ownership and resort development industries. Established in 1969, ARDA today has almost 1,000 members ranging from privately held firms to publicly traded companies and international corporations with expertise in shared ownership interests in leisure real estate. The membership also includes timeshare owner associations (HOAs), resort management companies, and owners through the ARDA Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC). Scuba Diving Instruction in the US Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) January 11, 2012

The Scuba Diving Instruction industry foundered in 2009, but revenue has bounced back considerably since then. Nonetheless, the tough times are not over. Because the industrys core consumers are traditionally young professionals, a complete rebound in revenue has not yet occurred. According to IBISWorld industry analyst Caitlin Moldvay, “The number of certified divers declined at an average annual pace of 1.5% over the five years to 2012, and spending per person also sank.” Industry revenue is estimated to fall at an annualized rate of 2.1% rate to $ 459.2 million, mostly as a result of a dive in revenue of 28.3% in 2009.

Scuba diving is a relatively costly recreational endeavor, which made it particularly susceptible to the downturn in consumer spending in 2009. However, luxury expenditure has rebounded faster than per capita disposable income. Disposable income was stagnant in the past five years, growing just 0.1% annually on average through 2012. Moldvay states that, Rebounding spending on scuba diving since 2009 relieved some pressure on operators, including an expected 3.5% increase in 2012 revenue. However, a tight lending environment forced some businesses to consolidate and led many to lay off employees. The number of industry employees is expected to decline at a 2.7% five-year annualized rate to 8,885 in 2012.

In the next five years, the rebound in consumer spending and dropping unemployment rate will likely bring business to instructors that were barely treading water. Moldvay expects industry revenue to rebound at a 2.3% annualized rate. Profit is also expected to rebound as domestic scuba tourism resurfaces and inbound trips by non-US residents continue to rise. New technologies like the Nautilus Lifeline, which offers two-way contact for divers and boats, are also expected to become more affordable and make the sport safer, drawing more people toward scuba diving.

The Scuba Diving Instruction industry is highly fragmented adds Moldvay. In 2012, the top four companies in the industry accounted for less than 5.0% of revenue. The majority of companies in the industry are small establishments that have five to six employees. Typically, operations are confined to a local or regional market. The largest scuba diving certification agencies, such as the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) operate as membership organizations that provide certifications through affiliates and are not included in the industrys major players.

The distribution of establishments that provide scuba diving is primarily based upon a regions proximity to oceans and lakes and its respective population levels. The West region accounts for the majority of industry operators, followed by the Southeast. The West region holds an estimated 37.2% of industry establishments. The West region is famed for its scuba diving, particularly in California and Hawaii. For example, Catalina Island, the Channel Islands and Monterey are all popular scuba diving destinations within California. Hawaii boasts year-round warm water; in addition to being a prominent tourist destination, the state is a popular location for scuba divers.

The Southeast region is another prominent center for industry operators. In 2012, the region accounted for an estimated 32.1% of industry establishments. The Florida Keys is one of the most popular locations in the world for scuba diving. The Florida Keys is a 120-mile island chain that is home to the United States only living-coral barrier reef. Because of its warm weather, Florida is also a key tourist destination, making it popular for industry operators to locate their scuba diving business in the state.

Handmade Hawaiian Jewelry From With Our Aloha

Honolulu, HI (PRWEB) January 25, 2012

With Our Aloha, a premier provider of Hawaiian flowers and gifts is pleased to announce the addition of Hawaiian handmade jewelry to it’s on-line offerings. The designs are inspired by traditional local themes including native flowers and ancient petroglyphs. In addition to the pendants, With Our Aloha offers an elegant necklace made of small puka shells, malachite, amethyst and lapis lazuli on a string with color glass beads.

“With the remarkable appeal of Hawaii’s flowers and leis it was natural for us to include jewelry as our next catagory,” said Frank MacMillan, owner of With Our Aloha. “Hawaii has so much beauty to offer and our necklaces are a perfect way to share.”

Petroglyphs are stone carvings found throughout the Hawaiian islands. Originally used as a form of communication they have been incorporated into contemporary art because of their striking designs.

Hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii and is found in many colors including yellow, red, pink and orange. They are often worn in the hair but due to their short lives they are not used as cut flowers.

All Asian cultures have a strong influence in Hawaii. So it was natural for the designer to incorporate imagery from Japanese and Chinese cultures including Kanji, cherry blossoms, sushi and koi.

The original designs are printed and glued to a small wooden tile. Each is sealed with a protective coating to insure long lasting beauty. Once completed the pendants are strung on a black satin cord with a silver plated clasp. Each pendant is 3/4 by 7/8 of an inch.

Jewelry items are sent from Honolulu by First Class Mail.

About With Our Aloha

Since 2000 With Our Aloha has sent farm fresh Hawaiian leis, cut flowers, and gift items throughout the US. The company prides itself on using only locally grown Hawaiian flowers as well as crafts and treats created in Hawaii.

Cruising From Austrailia to African Ports

Australia has become the home for new immigrants. Leading the way are those coming from Africa. From South Africa at the base of Africa to Tunisia and Egypt at top new residents are coming from many African countries. Many of these new immigrants come from the countries by the ocean, since these communities have a history of sailing in their blood. One of the things the new immigrants enjoy most is revisiting the homeland and most enjoy traveling by cruise ship since they often originate from African’s coastal areas. Africa is such a large continent that African cruises encompass many travel options. These include simply sailing to ports only in Africa or a combination of Africa and the continents of Europe or Asia.

One of the most common options is a cruise through the Mediterranean combining both European ports and African ports. This type of cruise usually includes such stops as Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia. Do to a bit of unrest in some of these regions, port calls may vary slightly. It is hard to narrow a cruise like this down, but you can break up the trip into several cruises and make it more affordable this way.

Another popular option is to approach Africa from the country of India. A cruise such as this could consist stops in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and in Africa ports in Oman, Dubai, United Arab Eremites, Egypt, and the Suez Canal ending up in Greece or Italy. Exploring the contracts between the Asian, Indian and Arab cultures make this cruise area very popular.

If you want to just explore the whole continent of Africa since you are traveling anyway, a cruise usually begins in Cape Town, South Africa. The ship then proceeds up the West African coast to stops in Namibia, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Senegal, Cape Verde Islands, the Canary Islands, Morocco and often on to a European port as a final stop such as London.

Traveling the other way along the East African coast, cruises usually include stops at Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and for the brave, Somalia. A cruise along the East African coast allows you to see Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. You can easily visit Lake Elizabeth or the see the animal preserves on safari. East Africa has the largest concentration of animals in Africa.

If you want to cruise from Australia, you need to allow plenty of time for being at sea. Sailing to Africa usually involves a world tour cruise or ocean crossings lasting 60 to 90 days. If you have the time, all of these cruises include extensive time on the African continent. You can begin your cruise in Australia and wind up in Hawaii or Alaska. Another option is to travel on Africa’s rivers including the Nile and Gambia Rivers.

Pricing varies from about $ 400 for a two or three day cruise to several thousand or more for longer cruises. You can book all of the well known cruise lines for these tours including Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. There are an assortment of local cruise ships that provide tours of one to two countries. You can also book on cargo and container ships at cheap rates if they have room. Not a sumptuous as some ships, these ships will never the less get you where you want to go. The options for sailing in Africa are as large as the continent.

Side Trips From Buenos Aires, Argentina

There are several exciting opportunities available to take one of more side trips from Buenos Aires to visit the Pampas region of Argentina. Some are quite close to the city and are only a short drive away, while others are farther away and may require that you book a flight in order to visit this beautiful part of the country.

San Antonio de Areco

This quiet little town is located deep in the heart of the Pampas and is only an hour and a half from Buenos Aires. Here you will find the center of the country’s gaucho culture – Argentina’s version of the cowboy. Although there are hotels in the town most visitors choose to make this a day trip and simply explore the attractions.

Shopping is mainly situated on two streets – Alisana and Arellano. While tourists do come here year round, if you are visiting in the fall, try to be in the town on November 10 for the annual Dia de la Tradicion when gauchos fill the town and play all kinds of games.

See the memorial to Juan Hipolito Vieytes in Plaza Arellano and visit the church of San Antonio de Padua with its mixture of Gothic and neoclassical architecture. Stroll the vine-covered walkways of the Parque San Martin and walk the picturesque bridges of Puente Veijo. The Gaucho Museum is located in this area and is the most visited and famous tourist attraction in the city.

Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata is a very popular beach resort located about 248 miles from Buenos Aires. It is extremely crowded during the summer months, which in South America are from December to March. The long and winding coastline is dotted with beaches and coves, but there are beautiful and quieter locations further inland.

The social center of the city is the Mar del Plata Casino with walkways that lead up from the beach. Street performers and musicians entertain crowds in the evenings. If you like surfing, then Waikiki is the place to be with its long slow breaks, even though the water may be a little colder than what you are used to.

Watch the fishermen unload their catches from their colorful boats in the harbor and see the colony of sea lions that bask on the rocky shoreline. Visit Villa Victoria to see how the rich and famous lived in the early 20thcentury and perhaps even take in a theatrical performance in the garden.

Miramar

For a less crowded area for your side trip from Buenos Aires Miramar offers you an opportunity to enjoy the beaches. There are not a lot of attractions in this city, which is about 279 miles from the capital. If you want to enjoy a hike and the great outdoors, visit the Vivero Dunicola Florentino Ameghino, which is a 200-acre forest with walking trails and sand dune excursions for your enjoyment.  Miramar also sports a casino and a pedestrian only street that connects the business and shopping district with the beach.

La Plata

If you don’t have a lot of time to spare and want to visit the countryside outside of Buenos Aires, then La Plata is only 34 miles away. Climb the Tower de Jesus at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where you will feel as if you are close to heaven and be able to take in a glorious view. The City Zoo houses about 180 animals and offers a great treat for children visiting the city.

If art is your passion, then you have several galleries and museums to choose from where you can browse various works of art from international and regional artists. Downtown you can spend the day at the theme park that actually gave Walt Disney the inspiration to create Disneyland.

For those who want to spend some time here, there are a variety of hotels. However, if you only have a few hours to spare, choose a half or full day city tour so that you get to see all the important sights.

From Novice To Expert Surfers – Hawaii Has It All

You might not be aware of it, but surfing is a Polynesian innovation that dates back several hundred years; Europeans initially saw it once they visited Tahiti in 1767.

Hawaii of course was settled by Polynesian immigrants from Tahiti about one thousand years ago, and brought the sport along with them. It was in Hawaii that surfing first caught on with Euro-Americans back in 1907. Where better to master the art form of he’enalu than amongst the people who invented surfing? Bring some friends and book your beachfront vacation rental through Hawaii Surf N’ Sand Vacations (http://www.hawaiivac.com/) or uncover condo rentals directly from the owners at Vacation Rentals By Owner (http://www.vrbo.com/).

While planning your Hawaii surfing holiday, take into account that the islands have two major seasons for this activity; be certain to select the time of year if feasible based on your surfing experience and aptitude. The winter months, November through March, are best suited for expert surfers, for the reason that waves tower twenty-five feet or more as they plunge toward the shore. Novices will want to arrange their surfing journey for the summer and fall months between the start of June and mid-October, at the time when the waters are calmer. Difficulty levels may also vary from one area of Hawaii to another.

Of course, Oahu is where most of the renowned surfing beaches are located, and Waiamea Bay is perhaps the most famed of them all. Waiamea Bay and other surfing locations such as Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline are a talented surfer’s paradise when waves generated by winter storms in the Aleutians come racing south. In the summertime, amateur surfers will want to check out Waikiki on the south side; these waves are the results of the austral winter storms off Antarctica and have a good deal further to travel, As a result, they are much gentler waves and better for beginners.

Since Oahu’s surfing areas are so well-known and admired, you’ll be competing with many other people for space. A less-crowded option is Kauai. Hanalei Bay on the north side provides difficult waves for experienced surfers, while Poipu and Kalapi to the south are better for beginners. Tourists to Hawaii might choose Kauai as their vacation spot for factors besides surfing by the way. Just because nearly all vacationers head for Oahu doesn’t mean that Kauai doesn’t have more than its share of entertaining activities. Kauai, that was the final island to come beneath Kamehameha’s rule back in 1810 (only when the island’s final ruler passed away without a successor), isn’t named the Garden Island for nothing.

This thriving paradise provides mountain inner tubing and kayaking along jungle rivers along with hiking and romantic travel inns, a number of which can only be reached by helicopter. The truth is, the Kauai helicopter tour is a popular choice of tourists. Check out Hawaiian beach vacation rentals and also cabin rentals (http://www.hawaiianbeachrentals.com/kauai-vacation-rentals-1.htm) for additional information on Hawaii vacation homes for lease on what many believe is the crown jewel of the Aloha State.
