Hawaii Cruises

Hawaii is considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations for Americans. Therefore you could assume that cruises from the west coast of the U.S. to the Hawaiian Islands are always avaible. But there are no cruises from the U.S. West Coast to Hawaii because in 1920 a maritime law passed to protect U.S. shipping.

The law – commonly known as the Jones Act – prevents foreign cruise ships from boarding passengers in one U.S. port and letting them disembark in another unless they visit a foreign country at some time during their voyage. Since the only two foreign countries anywhere near the U.S. and Hawaii are Canada and Mexico, that really limits the options.

With so many U.S. cruise lines, you may be wondering how this applies to them. The answer is that to save money, all U.S.

cruise lines – except one – register their ships in other countries, such as the Bahamas.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) believed that the market for Hawaii cruises was big enough to offset the added expense of registering their Pride of America in the U.S. And today, it’s the only U.S.-flagged cruise ship. They also had to hire U.S. staff and crew, which were more expensive than foreign crew.

All the other cruise ships that let passengers travel one way to Hawaii start their Hawaii cruises in Vancouver, British Columbia, in order to comply with the Jones Act.

Carnival, Princess, and Royal Caribbean all have repositioning cruises from Vancouver to Hawaii at the end of the Alaska cruising season.

Cruising is a good way to see Hawaii because the distances between the ports is short, so you can visit several different islands in a few days – without ever having to get on an airplane.

There’s plenty of time ashore and in many cases the ships overnight in port, which lets you go to a luau or other evening activity ashore. Plus, the scenery from the ship is almost always amazing as you glide through the island chain.

You’ll need to arrange a one-way ticket from Honolulu back to your home city, but at press time, one-way tickets to Los Angeles were less than $ 250.

It usually takes five or six days to sail from Vancouver to the Hawaiian Islands, so these cruises aren’t a great choice for those who don’t enjoy days at sea or are prone to seasickness. Thanks to the leisurely journey, you’ll arrive in the islands rested and rearing to go.

The 2,667-passenger Carnival Spirit arrives at Kona on the Big Island first, then calls at the island of Kauai and Hilo, also on the Big Island. Passengers have an overnight on board the ship in Kahului, Maui, and in Honolulu.

The much smaller – 710 passengers – Royal Princess visits Hilo and then goes to Lahaina on Maui and Kauai. Travelers can leave the ship in Honolulu or stay aboard and sail to Papeete, calling at Bora Bora, Raiatea, and Moorea en route.

Rhapsody of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s 2,500-passenger floating resort, sails past the Big Island at night so passengers can see molten lava spewing out of Kilauea Volcano. Cruisers spend a day each in Hilo, Kona, and Kauai, and have overnights on the ship in Lahaina and Honolulu.

When you consider that the cruise fare includes transportation, meals, and your accommodations in Hawaii, a repositioning cruise can be a better deal than an air and hotel package.

5 Tips on Booking Singles Cruises

While group and mass cruises have always been popular, it is sometimes more exciting, rejuvenating and memorable to try out singles cruises. A singles cruise is the best way to meet and make new friends instead of spending your holiday with people you are with on a daily basis. On a singles cruise, you can enjoy a holiday better without the worry of surrounding couples and or families wherever you go. Singles cruises allow you the rare opportunity to immerse your most natural self into a new environment without the same limitations and pressures of your daily life.

To make it even more appealing, booking for a singles cruise is actually relatively easier than the normal cruise processes. As you research on the available options for a memorable holiday, singles cruises should be your number one choice this year. To book for one, look for the cruise facilitators exclusively catering to singles. Most regular cruises require that you pay double while booking a double room with a single bed, which is basically a standard sized cabin for most regular cruises. If however you choose a facilitator exclusively dealing with singles cruises, their offers are structured in a way that allows you to travel alone or with a partner at your own convenience.

Secondly, booking singles cruises online is more convenient and cheaper. In online platforms, the cruise choices are diverse and highly discounted. You can find an appealing cruise package in special offers, especially during the off seasons. As noted earlier, the companies catering exclusively for singles cruises have more options and better prices, especially if such companies operate an online booking portal.

Thirdly, you are better off choosing your most preferred cruising theme instead of settling for a standard singles cruise. This is especially important if you are traveling alone. Make sure that the theme of the singles cruise is desirable to your interests, preferences and likes. You can therefore opt for a fitness cruise to the Pacific Islands, a fun cruise to Hawaii or an adventure cruise to the Caribbean.

Fourthly, ensure that the singles cruise you pick has an age limit that you qualify for. Singles cruise targeted to cater for just anybody rarely appeal to your preferences simply because they are tailored for a general audience. You should ensure that the cruise you book for is ideal for your age. You also don’t want to indulge in an 18-year old cruise when you are past the retirement age. The 18-30 and 25-40 are the most popular age limits for singles cruises today, while those targeted at seniors (40+) are getting more and more popular.

Fifthly, before booking a specific package, decide whether the cruise will be a water only trip or one including some tome on the beaches and along coastal towns of the destination. Some cruises require that you live and sleep entirely onboard during the entire trip while others offer opportunities to interact with the nightlife and shopping masses of some popular destinations. Make a choice based on your preferences and holiday requirements.

At the end of the day, singles cruises are, more appealing because they offer you the choice of tailor making your own trip based on preferences. Ensure that the cruise you book aptly caters to what you want out of a holiday.

Here Are Some Tips To Find Cheap Cruises

There are several ways to find cheap cruises aside from checking out all travel websites and their different offers. Although comparing prices is the initial step it would be best if you compared the following discount deals in order to get the best cheap cruises available:

Below are some of the ways you can get cheap cruises through the promotional offers commonly offered by cruise travel liners:

1. Cheap Cruises for Two for the Price of One

For a limited period of time and for a limited number of berths, you can get cheap cruises by booking two cruise ships from a selection of scheduled cruises just for the price of one. Destinations such as Alaska and Europe are now being offered for the price of one up to April 30, 2010. The passenger is guaranteed of price protection, which means his booked tour will not be affected by any future changes. The stateroom of their choice will be locked-in once they book to make sure they get what they booked for.

2. Cheap Cruises at Fifty Percent Off on Second Passenger

Cheap Cruises are being offered by cruise liners by offering the second passenger a 50% slash down on the price of the cruise. So if you’re a pair of honeymooning couple or just a pair of couple looking for a vacation getaway, look for cheap cruises offered  as “2nd passenger 50% off” before the ship sets sail on the departure date. Book early so you can get a good rate for the first passenger.

3. Back to Back Cruise Discounts

If you are a passenger of a one-way trip cruise ship and you’ll be going back to your point of origin by boarding the same ship, get a considerable amount of discount for the second sailing. There will be cases that you will be staying at your point of destination for more than a week or a month or even of longer, which will allow you cheap cruises by boarding the same ship when you get home to your point of origin.

This way you can enjoy visiting your relatives and friend especially if you’re in no hurry to get back home at the same time save enjoy another trip by ocean fare. Most of these cheap cruises are offered for Florida Ports and for Caribbean cruises. Some cruise ships also include their Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Canada and Hawaii cruise destinations.

Check out the website’s cruise calendar so you will know which sea vessels are offering these cheap cruises by looking up their travel date and alternative cruise travels. Once satisfied, find booking specialist to help you book the two travels at the best discounts and rewards possible.

4. Early Booking Discounts

To get some good deals on cheap cruises all you need to do is to book as early as 6 months in advance for a great deal of savings. Check the Cruise Travel Calendars and find out which cruise travels are entitled to early booking deals. Some cheap cruises are given price-offs for as much as $ 500 per package.

5. Last Minute Booking Deals

Cruise ships that are about to sail in three week’s time put up their remaining berths at “Late Booking Deals” which you can avail even up to the last three hours before departure.

6. Kids Sail Free

These cheap cruises are often offered for off- season sailings but up to two kids can sail with their parents for free. Destinations are usually for Caribbean and Bahamas cruises by cruise liners like Costa Cruises and Disney Cruise Lines. The Regent Seven Seas Cruises allow two kids 17 and below to stay in their parents cabin without paying extra for cruises to Alaska, Mediterranean and Northern Europe cruises.

7. Group Discounts

Be a group leader by organizing cruise travels for groups. The more groups you can book for at least 5 staterooms for each group, the more discounts and amenities you will be entitled to. In fact you will earn a free cruise yourself. So the more groups you can book to set sail for a cruise, the more number of free cruises you will earn then you can also bring your family along.

In cheap cruises offered to group travelers, if one of the groups will book 8 cabins, the group will be entitled to one berth or bed free. This will allow adding another member who’ll pay for fares and meals only. Double the number of cabins booked to 16 and you’ll get another free bed or berth and if you can arrange it right you can use this to accommodate a member of another group in case no one else needs it.

Gather up your friends as one group, your family as another group, or some club or association you belong to as another, each cabin is for double occupancy. You can convince everyone to board a cruise for the same destination, so you can also consolidate your number of free cruises. Coordinate with a booking specialist to get the best deals for your customers and for yourself as well, because there are other amenities offered.
