Earl Hamner Jr. – best known as the creator of TV’s The Waltons (1972-81) – wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros. Norman Taurog (Blue Hawaii, Spinout, Speedway) directed and Frank Perkins created the swinging music score.

Troy Donahue (Jim Munroe) and Connie Stevens (Gayle Lewis/Jane Hoover) head the mod cast. Other players include Ty Hardin (Doug “Stretch” Fortune), Stefanie Powers (Bunny Dixon), Robert Conrad (Eric Dean), Andrew Duggan (Police Chief Dixon), Jack Weston (Coach Fred Campbell), Carole Cook (Naomi Yates), Jerry Van Dyke (Biff Roberts), Zeme North (Amanda North), Billy Mumy (“Boom Boom” Yates) and Tina Cole (Ruth Stewart).

Blond movie/TV/recording idol Troy Donahue – who entered this world as Merle Johnson Jr. – is at his heartthrob best, romancing fresh-faced record shop salesgirl Stefanie Powers. Connie Stevens, who with Edd Byrnes scored the 1959 novelty hit “Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)”, purrs quite nicely as one of the film’s youthful sex kittens.

But it’s macho Robert Conrad, piloting his flashy 1963 Ford Thunderbird about town, who makes one of the movie’s biggest impressions. As a young, hard-drinking playboy whose millionaire father has just wed wife #6, Conrad flashes both his resentment and his fists, later duking it out with Ty “Bronco” Hardin. Also, look for a 20-year-old Tina Cole, who later played Don Grady’s wife Katie on TV’s My Three Sons, as the hostess of a party that gets out of hand.

Learning a new language? Here’s some help!

Hey Everybody it’s Inari Sasorri here broadcasting some great news!

Have you ever tried to learn a new language, but find it depressingly hard to learn anything. I love to dabble in other languages here and there, but I’ve found it utterly hard to learn new languages. That is why I love to listen to music in other languages. Have you ever heard a song in another language that is just so darn catchy? You try to hum it to yourself, but it gets kind of hard because you don’t know the words. You end up youtubing the song and learn most of the song by the end of the day. 

That, my pups, is a simple first step to learning a new language. For example, I love Japanese music, always have and always will! When I first started to listening to Japanese I had to find English translations to the song. After comparing the two languages in the song, I slowly began to understand the meaning of certain words. When you keep doing this step, you can easily pick up the words you already understand and put the two together. The music in the song helps greaty because you stay on beat and the rhythm helps you memorize what words come next in the sentence.

Another thing you can do is, like step one, when you read a senctence, try to say it in a tune. This helps the words stick in your head and soon it will just come naturally to you.

The last step I will talk about here is to watch as many subtitled movies, animes, cartoons, and t.v. shows. This will give you a very vivid picture to what you are hearing, and help you piece the sound with the picture.

Watching break up movies is the perfect way to make yourself feel better if you’ve just dumped someone or been dumped yourself. Here are some of the best options for an emotional night to yourself to help with break up survival:

High Fidelity

This John Cusack movie shows John and break up movies at their best. The movie centers around John just having been dumped by a girl he loves. He spends the movie getting back in touch with all his exes to find out exactly what it was about him that made them want to leave. Lisa Bonet, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Lili Taylor are just a few of the actresses who play his exes. An added bonus is Jack Black as his friend Barry.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

This is one of the funniest break up movies I’ve seen in a long time. Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) stars as a guy who has just been dumped by his girlfriend, played by Veronica Bell. He goes to Hawaii to try to get over her, only to run into her and her new boyfriend at the resort he’s chosen. Mila Kunis (That ’70s Show) stars as the girl who helps him recover from the ordeal.
