Florida’s Daytona Beach area was number 2 and the Kailua-Kona area of The Big Island (Hawaii) was number 3 on the list. Key West , Florida and San Diego, California came in at number 4 and number 5 respectively.
NOTE: The picture to the right is Black Rock in the Kaanapali Resort area on the western side of the Hawaiian island of Maui. It’s an incredible place to snorkel and is one of the nices beaches for families, especially if you have small children. Even if you are a beginner at snorkeling, the water here is always calm in the early mornings and it’s an easy place to see plenty of fish. Often, you will see a HONU — hawaiian for green sea turtle!
Black Rock is ocean-side of the Sheraton Maui Resort (www.sheraton-maui.com) and has excellent parking for your visit to Black Rock. When you are looking toward the ocean, the island you see across the channel is the hawaiian island of Lanai. Lastly, Black Rock is a great place to visit if you are staying on West Maui or just coming to visit the Kaanapali area for the day!
